frozen-hot-chocolateThe cold months are almost here as is the flu season. If you don’t watch the news the swine flue is a big thing right now. Everyone wants to get better as soon as possible so here is a sweet way of relieving nasal congestion. Just drink a cup of this delicious and decadent drink that is flavored with hot chocolate and cayenne pepper.  Who doesn’t love chocolate RIGHT!? Personally I think this is the most delicious way to treat a cold.

The next time you feel a cold coming on just melt a few ounces of chocolate (Dark chocolate being the best of course) in in a cup of milk (you can use whole or fat free), and sprinkle with a little cayenne pepper (be careful as cayenne is very spicy). Take your cup of chocolaty goodness, snuggle up under a warm blanket, and read a good book or watch a action packed movie and sip those sniffles away.

Research has shown that cayenne has very powerful antibacterial properties called capsaicin. They can relieve nasal congestion, while the theo bromine, a substance found in chocolate has been proven to be a effective cough treatment. A little more about cayenne… Cayenne comes from ground pods and seeds that are pungent red peppers of the genus capsicum.
